Senior Information System Security Manager (Active TS/SCI)
Woodinville, WA · Full Time
$180,000 - $200,000
About This Role
Company Overview:
Starcloud is building a network of data centers in space, starting at kilowatts and scaling to gigawatt capacity. Falling launch costs allow us to take advantage of the abundant energy, radiative cooling techniques, and ability to rapidly scale in space. Join our team, push the boundaries of the space economy, and be part of this pioneering effort to redefine the future of energy.
Position Overview:
As Senior Information System Security Manager (ISSM) at Starcloud, you’ll own security authorization for our classified systems, starting with the compute and network environments at our Woodinville data center. You’ll run the full Risk Management Framework (RMF) lifecycle, from categorization through ATO to continuous monitoring, along with the project plan that gets each system there. You’ll also be Starcloud’s main point of contact with DCSA on system authorizations. For now this is an individual-contributor role. As our classified footprint grows, you’ll build and lead a team of ISSOs.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities
RMF and Authorization:
- Serve as ISSM for Starcloud’s classified information systems and networks, owning RMF from categorization through continuous monitoring.
- Develop and maintain authorization packages (SSPs, POA&Ms, and supporting artifacts) to obtain and keep ATOs.
- Make sure every package and control implementation meets NIST SP 800-53, the DAAPM, and DCSA requirements.
Project Management:
- Manage each system’s path from kickoff to an authorized, operational system.
- Build and maintain schedules, milestones, and dependencies so ATOs land on time, and tie gate reviews to site build timelines.
- Standardize authorization and deployment playbooks so each new system is authorized faster than the last.
Multi-Tenant Operations and Monitoring:
- Define and maintain authorization boundaries in multi-tenant environments where several customers share infrastructure.
- Run continuous monitoring to keep authorizations valid and catch drift as systems change.
- Work on-site with data center engineering and IT to put controls in place as systems are built.
Team and Stakeholder Leadership:
- Serve as the primary security authority and DCSA point of contact for system authorizations.
- Brief leadership and customers on security posture, risk, and authorization status.
- Work with the Facility Security Officer (FSO) on facility and personnel security requirements.
- Hire and lead a team of ISSOs as the classified footprint grows.
Requirements

- Hands-on RMF experience taking authorization packages to ATO under NIST SP 800-53 and the DAAPM.
- Direct experience working with DCSA as the cognizant security agency.
